Contemporary romance with a sensual edge!

Some good news

I've gotten an editorial job with a new electronic publisher called Eirelander Publishing.

So how did this all come about?

I received an email from an online friend who is now a senior edition at the company telling me about the job. At first I wasn't going to do anything about it. I've tried two or three other times, with two or three other publishers, and they'd all said no. I was doubting myself. One night I couldn't sleep so I decided to pray over my decision. I decided I should take another chance on trying for an editorial position. If I never tried again, I'd never get anywhere. I wrote up my information and sent it to them.

And waited.

I'm thinking I didn't even qualify enough for them to send me the editor test.

Yet I received one a few days later.

Then I was thinking it wasn't meant for me because the email was addressed to another person. When I email the editor-in-chief to let her know the mistake, she said it was for me. I felt better.

But I still had second thoughts about doing the test. I couldn't sleep again so I decided to pray over the test. A voice inside me said to treat it as an editor would and not as a critiquer. I decided to take the advice. The next day I sent it back to Eirelander and try to let it go.

It wasn't easy.

A few more weeks went by and I was sure I didn't get the position. When I finally got the email from the editor-in-chief, Lee, I was afraid to open it. And when I started reading it, I was sure it'll say 'you don't have the qualities we're looking for' right before the signature. But instead they offered me the position.

Praise God!

Don't you ever give up on prayers. Faith and patience will get you what you desire.

I've got my release date

My new editor, Jesse, and I have finally finished the edits for A Betrayal of Friendship for Whispers Publishing. I've got my complete release date, January 22, 2010. I'm waiting on the ebook and cover now. I can't wait to see if they used my suggestions. I have a nice picture in my head of what I want to see on the cover, and I'm hoping the artist comes up with the same image. Or close to it. When I get the cover, I'll post it here on the net.

So how are my other books going?

Right now I'm doing a final rewrite on The Gift before I submit it to my critique group. I've found a way to deepened the conflict in it so I need to rewrite a few things here and there. I'm hoping to get this finished and crit in about a week so I can send it to Whispers. Thank you, Mike, for your helpful suggestions.

Saving Pale Moon, my longer contemporary romance, I'm putting on hold for a bit so I can finished my newest one. I'm still thinking of a title for that one. Saving Pale Moon was written a few years ago. I'm tired of it. I'm planning on sending the untitled one to Harlequin, for the Superromance line.

Good news! TWRP sent me my first royalty check. It's not much, but it's worth it. Yesterday I did some promoting for One and the Same on a few Yahoo groups and lining up a few possible interviews. I've decided to set aside a few hours every week for promoting.

So how has your day been going?

So I'm finally going to start doing edits

My second book, A Betrayal of Friendship has a release date. It won't be release until January of 2010 but I can live with that. My editor said she should have the first edits ready to go by the middle of September. I'm really excited about starting those.

Right now I'm trying to finish another romance that I plan on submitting to The Wild Rose Press. And I also have a finished one I'm thinking of printing out and sending (the first three chapters and synposis only) to Harlequin. I'd love to get published by them.

I also have another finished one I'm planning on sending to Whispers when I get the edits done on The Betrayal of Friendship.

Next time I have news to tell you, I hope it's not in May, 2010. I sold my first romance in May, 2008; the second this May. I don't plan on waiting until next year to sell  my third one.

Oh, and I just found out some good news. My online friend and old critique partner has just sold her second romance to Avalon. Congrats, Jennifer.

Good News!

On May 5, I received a new contract for my short contemporary called A Betrayal of Friendship from Whispers Publishing. I signed and sent back the contract about a week or so ago, and now I'm waiting for my editor to send me the first round of edits.

I'll keep you posted on my release date.

The first book contract I signed was last May, I'm hoping my third one will be way before next May.

About Me

If you think just because you sold one book to your editor, don't think you'll automatically sell another one. I just got a nice email from my editor saying she didn't want my new submission, The Perfect Man for Allie.  She liked my writing, but she said the story went to slow.

Oh, well.

The same day I got the rejection I found another electronic publishing I think will be a good fit for my writing called Desert Breeze Publishing. It's a new publishing house so I decided to repackaged my book and sent it out to them. If you'd like to read more about this new publisher, just click here.

I do have one more finished manuscript I'm planning on sending to Cindy. I need to go through and change some of the more descriptive words before I do however. (Some of the words describing certain parts of the human body, both male and female, are a bit graphic.)

Hopefully this book will be a bit faster for her.

Hey, my critique partners like it.

I'll keep you posted,

Theresa

 What's going on?

I'm busy finishing a short contemporary called The Betrayal of Friendship. By the end of the week, I hope to have the synopsis written and the first chapter finished so I can submit it to Freya's Bower.  They ask for a query letter with a one or two paragraph synopsis plus the first chapter.  A few of my critique partners have sold to this company and they said some nice thing about them.  The Betrayal of Friendship is a sexier, more erotic story than One and the Same.  I didn't think it would fit the Champagne Rose line at The Wild Rose Press.

But I did promise my editor, Cindy Davis, a new submission. What to do, what to do?

A few days ago I sent her a synopsis and first three chapters of an older romance I'd written (and rewritten three or four times) called The Perfect Man for Allie.  I'm hoping she likes it because I'm thinking of doing a series of romances with all of Allie's sisters as the heroines. The second book, A New Family for Jessie, is already finished. (At least the first draft is stored on my hard drive.) And the third one is being processed in my mind now.

The bad news?

The Perfect Man for Allie used to be named something else. I submitted it under the older name and it was rejected. Rejected with nice comments and helpful suggestions (which I took) to make it better.

Here's hoping for the best,

Theresa
